Faculties and Departments at Aalborg University

Aalborg University encompasses five faculties, under which all research and educational activities take place. Each faculty at Aalborg University represents a main area of science and is organised into a number of departments, centres and schools, which work with specific scientific areas within the faculty’s main areas. Likewise, the boards of studies - which are responsible for the various study programmes - are also organised under each faculty. The five faculties are each headed by a dean. AAU also consists of The Danish Building Research Institute (SBi) since the fusion in 2007.

Heads of Departments

The Head of Department takes care of the day-to-day management of the department and is responsible for the quality of and connection between the department's educations and research.

The Head of Department ensures that the academic staff has the required professional and pedagogical skills and that research-based education is carried out in the relevant educational programmes. Furthermore, the Head of Department is responsible for the evaluation of the department's educational programmes and the follow up on these evaluations in cooperation with the Director of Studies and the Board of Studies. The Head of Department is supported by the Departmental Council.
