Nordic Centre Cooperation
The Nordic Centre is a partnership between the Nordic countries and Fudan University in China. The purpose of Nordic Centre is to promote closer ties and understanding between the Nordic countries and China when it comes to research and education
The Nordic Centre at Aalborg University
Aalborg University has taken over the chairmanship of Nordic Centre in a period of three years from 1st of January 2012. As a result, vice-rector Inger Askehave will be chairman of the board in Nordic Centre and the secretariat will be placed in Aalborg until January 2015. Moreover, Aalborg University has the coordinating role in relation to Nordic Studies. Nordic Studies is a series of Nordic courses which are offered to the students at Fudan University. The courses are about Nordic matters such as the Nordic welfare states, history and culture and the teachers come from the Nordic member universities.
About the Nordic Centre
The Nordic Centre was established in 1995 as a joint project between Fudan University and 14 Nordic universities. Today there are 25 partner universities representing the five Nordic countries. The Nordic Centre has been placed at Fudan University since the beginning but an increased number of activities has led to the construction of a new Nordic Centre building which was inaugurated in 2010. The building is at the area of Fudan University and contains offices and meeting rooms as well as lecture rooms and library.
Main areas of focus
The Nordic Centre aims to be:
- A platform for initiating and developing activities and collaboration within research and higher education which is of mutual interest to Nordic and Chinese scholars
- A teaching institution for Chinese students and scholars pursuing study of the Nordic countries and for Nordic students and scholars pursuing study of China
- An organizer of programmes and activities for Nordic business communities in Shanghai region
Nordic Studies
Aalborg University has the coordinating role in relation to Nordic Studies. Nordic Studies is a series of Nordic courses which are offered to the students at Fudan University.
