Newsletter from the Rectorate December 2012 Published 19. December 2012
2012 is now drawing to a close, and this is a time to thank everyone for good cooperation during the past year.
We are able to look back on a year when Aalborg University was once again expanding. We welcomed no less than 8,000 new students on our bachelor, masters, international and further and continuing education programmes, and we opened a new campus in Copenhagen. Some challenges had to be tackled to prepare the new locations for the new semester. We moved into the premises of a company and these had to be made ready for student and work activities. In Aalborg, several departments had to move to new premises to make room for the large classes of students moving into our Aalborg campus.
2012 was also the year when group exams returned to Aalborg University. For several years this has been one of our key issues, since this examination type matches our PBL model well. We have therefore reintroduced group exams at all faculties as soon as possible.

Newsletter from the Rectorate October 2012 Published 29. October 2012
The academic year 2012-2013 is now well under way. We have welcomed more new students than ever before. For the third year running we are the Danish university with the largest increase in both applicants and new enrolled students.
Last year we admitted 4,090 students on our bachelor programmes through the coordinated enrolment system (KOT). This year we offered a place to 4,873 new students in our three campuses in Aalborg, Esbjerg and Copenhagen. In addition, 1,589 students were admitted directly and on the admission course, and we welcomed 874 international students and 882 part time students. This is the largest intake of students in any year of AAU history, and we now have a total number of 19,000 students. This requires commitment and is also a big task for the university. Consequently, we have planned a number of new construction projects and are in the process of expanding our staff in order to meet the additional requirements.
