Latin American Studies (LAS) is not an individual degree programme but a specialisation programme under the Study Board of International Affairs.
Latin American Studies can be chosen:
- as a specialisation in the two-year master programmes Development and International Relations (DIR) or European Studies (ES) (both campus Aalborg)
- as two modules of each 5 ECTS as part of another programme, e.g. Culture, Communication and Globalization (CCG), Tourism, International Business Communication, History, etc.
Latin America is taking part in the take-off of the developing world in terms of economic and global political development. With a specialisation in Latin American Studies you open the door to a variety of professional career possibilities where Latin America is a central component in international trade, regional & multilateral institutions, the public sector, NGOs, etc.
Latin American Studies provides a broad understanding of contemporary and historical issues in Latin America's development, as well as the scale of Latin America's impact on the world economy and global relations.
The Latin American Studies programme consists of a number of lectures on MA level aimed at introducing topics in a problem-based and interdisciplinary manner. Through this approach students will be capable of comprehending and analysing Latin America related issues in a holistic and coherent combination.
- Full degree students begin 1 September.
- Guest/exchange students begin 1 September or 1 February.
