With a goal of contribute to water savings the Smart Water Lab uses science and technology to develop sustainable water management systems. Growing demand for improved living standards puts an enormous pressure on energy and water resources. The Smart Water Lab embraces these challenges and strives to find sustainable solutions by studying water based infrastructures in urban areas.
The infrastructures considered in the lab comprise water distribution networks, wastewater networks, and the district heating and cooling systems. The laboratory is modular consisting of different moveable blocks with various functionalities creating the possibility of building miniature infrastructures and testing real-life challenges that cannot be tested in real life. Research activities include infrastructures for water supply and wastewater transport.
The Smart Water Lab strives to find sustainable solutions by promoting interdisciplinary research, education, and collaboration with industry and society.
