Traineeship at Google

Jens BastrupJens Bastrup has a Master’s Degree in International Marketing from 2013. He currently works for Google in Denmark, where he started as a traineeand dealt with online marketing. He wrote this testimonial following his graduation from AAU.

I graduated with a Master’s Degree in International Marketing from Aalborg University in 2013, and my reasons for choosing this particular degree were numerous.

The choice of International Marketing

First of all, marketing is a very interesting subject because it is about the relationship between the customer and the company. It is therefore a very relevant study that goes beyond promoting a company’s products and services.

The international perspective characterising the education is very important in an increasingly globalised world. All lectures are in English, and I chose to do my exams in English as well. Furthermore, it is a popular study among foreign students that prepares you to work in an international company with colleagues from other cultures.

Furthermore, the education distinguishes itself by being very project-oriented. The projects are often business problems you need to solve in collaboration with companies. Some projects are defined in advance, while others can be chosen by you depending on the specialisation you want to give to your education. I was very inspired by the lectures in e-business and noticed more and more job ads asking for digital competencies – often in relation to digital marketing. Therefore, I wanted to tailor the last year of my education to match this need, including my Master’s thesis.

Traineeship at Google

In the third semester you have the opportunity to get a traineeship at a company that Aalborg University collaborates with or one you find and contact yourself. I was fortunate to get a traineeship with Google in Denmark and to work with online marketing, which I found very inspiring.

If you are interested in marketing in a world that is gradually becoming more global and you also want to give your education a specific profile, then International Marketing at Aalborg University might be ideal for you, too.

I det følgende skriver tidligere International Marketing studerende Jens Bostrup om sine oplevelse af at studere International Marketing. Dimitterede i 2013.

Jeg afsluttede min kandidatuddannelse i International Marketing på Aalborg Universitet i 2013, og at valget faldt på denne retning var der flere grunde til.

VALGET AF International Marketing

For det første er marketing i min optik spændende fordi det mere end noget andet handler om forholdet mellem kunde og virksomhed. Det er derfor et meget relevant studie, der stikker dybere end blot at promovere en virksomheds produkter og services.

Det internationale aspekt som er karakteristisk for uddannelsen er vigtigt i en verden der er præget af globalisering. Alle forelæsninger foregår på engelsk og jeg valgte også at tage alle eksamener på engelsk. Derudover er der mange udenlandske studerende, og på den måde bliver man godt klædt på til at kunne begå sig i en global virksomhed og samarbejde med kollegaer fra andre kulturer.

Derudover udmærker uddannelsen sig ved at være meget projektorienteret. De projektopgaver man skriver er typisk problemer som man løser for og i samarbejde med virksomheder. Hvor nogle projekter er definerede på forhånd, kan andre vælges ud fra den profil man ønsker at give sin uddannelse. Jeg blev meget inspireret af forelæsningerne omkring e-business og kunne se, at flere og flere jobopslag efterspurgte digitale kompetencer og nogle specifikt inden for digital markedsføring. Derfor valgte jeg, at det skulle være kernen inden for flere af mine projekter herunder mit speciale.

Praktik hos Google 

På tredje semester er der mulighed for praktikophold hos virksomheder som Aalborg Universitet samarbejder med, eller som du selv tager kontakt til. Her var jeg heldig at komme i praktik hos Google Danmark og arbejde med online marketing som jeg var utrolig inspireret af.

Så hvis du interesserer dig for marketing i en verden der i stigende grad bliver global og måske ønsker at give uddannelsen en bestemt profil, er International Marketing på Aalborg Universitet nok også noget for dig.
