Management in the Building Industry

Management in the Building Industry

Are you interested in working as a manger in the building industry, being a part of the different stages of the construction process? The Master’s programme in Management in the Building Industry gives you insight into all management related phases of modern construction from ideas about shape and use to project design, construction, management, operation, and maintenance. Besides the technical aspects, the programme also covers areas such as organisation, economics, project management, working environment, logistics, and information technology. The Master’s programme in Management in the Building Industry focuses on the entire construction process (the project and the company) from a management point of view.

An important element in the study programme is cooperation with external companies and organisations. Many projects are carried out in cooperation with companies and knowledge organisations within the construction industry. Also, the programme has a close connection to the development initiatives within the building sector. Experience shows that problem based project work in cooperation with companies is fruitful for both parties; as a student you learn how to combine theory and practice, and the company gets valuable new input on both existing and future challenges.

This is a full-time study programme, which is characterised by problem based project work in groups. You will be working closely with other students most of the time, and you are required to be present at the university on a daily basis and spend a vast majority of your day there.

The Master’s programme entitles you to the designation Master of Science (MSc) in Engineering (Management in the Building Industry).

The programme gives you an academic understanding of the phases of construction. As a graduate from Management in the Building Industry, you are therefore well equipped to meet the demands of modern construction and you have a series of different career opportunities.

You may find employment with e.g. architectural companies, consulting engineers, contractors, engineering companies or suppliers of construction materials. Your daily work tasks may include consultancy, project management, organization, innovation, risk assessment and strategy.

Regardless of your interests, there are many job opportunities when graduating from Management in the Building Industry.
