In the master’s programme in Medialogy at Aalborg University, we offer three specialisations, giving you the opportunity to delve deeper into a specific field. Our profiles are: Computer Graphics, Games and Interaction.

In the master’s programme, you are given the opportunity to obtain academic depth in specific subjects and to use our advanced laboratory equipment. Here, you can test and further develop state-of-the-art techniques within virtual reality, interactive 3D-elements and user evaluation.

In the specialisations, you will learn to analyse research within the chosen field. You will learn to evaluation and choose the theories, methods and tools within your field to produce new knowledge and technology.

You begin your specialisation in the 1st semester. In the 2nd semester, you have the option of choosing one of the other specialisations, in case you would rather study one of them. If you decide to choose another specialisation, you must do so in the very beginning of the 2nd semester. In the 3rd semester, you get the opportunity to take an internship with a company or organization or to study a semester at another university in Denmark or abroad. In the 4th semester, you carry out your master’s thesis, and upon graduation, you are Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Medialogy.

1st semester

  • Advanced A/V Production 
  • User Experience Design for Multi-modal Interaction 
  • Prototyping and Fabrication Techniques 
  • Foundations in Medialogy

2nd semester


  • Algorithms, Data Structures and Software Engineering for Media Technology

Electives (choose two):

  • Narratives in Digital Culture
  • Modelling Physical Systems
  • Embodied Interaction
  • Image Procesing and Computer Vision

3rd semester

It is possible to have a project-oriented work in Company during 3rd semster.

If not you have to chose between these electives (choose two):

  • Creative Innovation and Entrepreneurship
  • Research in Medialogy
  • Elective course

The study method at AAU is called Problem Based Learning (PBL). Together with your fellow students you will work with real life problems by way of problem based project work.
