Admission Requirements

To enter the master’s programme in Techno-Anthropology, you must have a relevant bachelor’s degree.

Applicants with a legal right of admission (retskrav):

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Techno-Anthropology, Aalborg University
  • Applicants without legal right of admission
  • Professional Bachelor’s degree in Health
  • Bachelor’s degree in Natural Science, Technical Science, Humanist Technology, Art and Technology, or Communication and Digital Media
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Market and Management Anthropology, Sociology or Psychology.

Applicants without a legal right of admission to the master's programme in Techno-Anthropology must prove that their English level is equivalent to level B (Danish level) in English.

Entry restrictions

The Master's programme in Techno-Anthropology has restricted admission. During the screening process for the student intake, the following criteria will be valued:

  • The e-course “Introduction to Techno-Anthropology” is passed
  • Convincing motivational letter (written in English) that explains how the applicant will use the MSc degree professionally after graduation
  • The relevancy of the Bachelor degree (in terms of PBL, interdisciplinarity, technology focus, and / or ethnographic methods)
  • The grades earned at the Bachelor degree.


Techno-Anthropology in Copenhagen: 30 study places
Techno-Anthropology in Aalborg: 16 study places

Official English language requirements

Applicants applying for Master's programmes at Aalborg University must submit results of an IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge test with the below mentioned minimum scores:

Danish B level in English compares to:

IELTS (academic test). 6.5 overall band score
TOEFL (internet-based): Minimum score: 85
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency (CPE): 180 / level C1
Certificate in Advanced English (CAE): 180 / grade C
ECPE: Passed test including certificate

How to apply

When you apply for a Master's programme at Aalborg University, you have to use the Application Portal which is a national Danish digital application system in which the entire application process is handled.

Please note that some of the programmes offered may be subject to restricted admission. That means that the individual programmes may have a limited number of student places. Information on the programmes affected and the exact number of places offered will be available shortly when finally clarified.
