Application and requirements

Admission Requirements

The following Bachelor programmes allow for access to the Master's programme in Techno-Anthropology:

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Techno-Anthropology, Aalborg University (entitled to admission)
  • Professional Bachelor’s degree in Health
  • Bachelor’s degree in Natural Science, Technical Science, Humanist Technology, Art and Technology, or Communication and Digital Media
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Market and Management Anthropology, Sociology or Psychology.

Applicants with equivalent Danish or foreign education at the same level can be accepted based on the study committee’s individual assessment. If your bachelor programme does not directly qualify you, the International Office will forward the application to the relevant study board for approval.

Entry restrictions

The Master's programme in Techno-Anthropology has restricted admission. During the screening process for the student intake, the following criteria will be valued:

  • Grade 12 / A in the Bachelor’s project
  • Grade 10 or more in average in the qualifying degree
  • The application contains realistic plans for how the applicant will use the MSc degree professionally after graduation
  • The applicant has during the qualifying degree passed courses from two Faculties (HUM, SOC, TECH, SCI, HEALTH)
  • The applicant has worked with technology in a socio-technical perspective during the bachelor project
  • The application documents experience with PBL

NUMBER OF STUDY PLACES

Techno-Anthropology in Copenhagen: 60 study places
Techno-Anthropology in Aalborg: 40 study places

Official English language requirements

Applicants applying for Master's programmes at Aalborg University must submit results of an IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge test with the below mentioned minimum scores:

Danish B level in English compares to:

IELTS (academic test). Minimum score: 6.5
TOEFL (internet-based): Minimum score: 88
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency (CPE)
Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)

How to apply

When you apply for a Master's programme at Aalborg University, you have to use STADS-DANS which is a national Danish digital application system in which the entire application process is handled.

Please note that some of the programmes offered may be subject to restricted admission. That means that the individual programmes may have a limited number of student places. Information on the programmes affected and the exact number of places offered will be available shortly when finally clarified.
