    Feel Good at AAU

The Feel Good universe is a new addition to the AAU Student app, which focuses on strengthening the study environment at AAU by creating a balanced student life for the students.
Feel Good can help you plan your time, reach your goals, and manage your tasks – it can help you with anything from dishwashing to exam preparation. Feel Good has three tools that can be used independently.
You can read more about Feel Good on this page - you can also see a short video about Feel Good at the bottom of this page.

    Manage your time

The Manage you time tool makes you aware of what you spend your time on by focusing on planning and time consumption. This gives you something to act upon.

To be able to reflect better on your progress, start by giving a status on how you feel right now.

Afterwards, you will be asked to reflect on what makes you happy. Think about three leisure activities that can help give you energy when everyday life becomes too busy.

In the next step, you will be asked to focus on what you spend your time on. Therefore, you are asked some questions about your study, sleep, part-time jobs and other activities. You can find more information about the different categories by pressing the (i) button next to all categories.

Once you have completed these steps, you will get a comprehensive overview of your weekly time consumption. The last screen compares your data with recommendations and current research in the different topics e.g. about sleep or time spent studying. This will help you reflect on whether you have a good balance in your everyday life.

At the bottom of the screen, you will find the activities you noted in the beginning. These can help give you energy and joy during a busy day, therefore they are incredibly important to consider when you plan your week.

    Set goals

If you really want to achieve something, it's a good idea to set goals for yourself. A goal that you are motivated to achieve helps you to focus your energy in a more meaningful way. It also helps you to achieve your goal. The tool is based on the SMART-model. SMART is short for:

    •    Specific – your goal must target a specific area of improvement.
    •    Measurable – quantify or at least suggest an indicator of progress for your goal.
    •    Attractive – your goal must be desirable. Why do you fight to achieve this goal?
    •    Realistic – the goal should be achievable with your current resources.
    •    Time-limited – you must have a deadline for achieving the goal.

    TWO EXAMPLES OF SMART GOALS

If you want to do well in an exam, this is not, in itself, a SMART goal, as it does not meet the above mentioned criteria. Instead, your SMART goal could be:

"I will have prepared at least 3 questions for each lecture in the coming semester". Here, the underlying goal could be:

    • I want an overview of my course syllabus before the exam. I want to do this by spending 15 minutes after each lecture to reflect upon what I learned and to edit my notes.

Another example might be that you want to improve your health. Nor is this, in itself, a SMART goal, as it does not meet the above criteria. Instead, your SMART goal could be:

"Every day during this semester, I will walk 8,000 steps". Here, the underlying goal could be:

    • I want more movement in my everyday life so that I can improve my health.

When you use the Set goals tool in the app, you are presented with additional examples, to help you think about what a good SMART goal is. Sometimes it can help to draw inspiration from one of your energizing activities from the Mange your time tool. For example, if you have specified sleep as an energizing activity, your SMART goal could be at least 7 hours of sleep every night during the next 2 months.

If you want to achieve your goals successfully, then it is important that you continuously work on your goals. One way to do this is by clicking yes to notifications in the app, to continuously be reminded of your goals.

    Prioritize your tasks

Sometimes, all the tasks you have to accomplish, or have set out to reach, can be more stressful than necessary. The Prioritize your tasks tool can help you clear your head.

Once you have written all your tasks down, you have to sort them to manage what is important and what can wait or what can maybe be completely omitted.

Afterwards, you get an overview of the sorted tasks. Once you have solved a task, you can mark it as accomplished, and it will appear in the “Completed” tab. This way you will get an overview of all your tasks.

It is important that you spend time daily to adjust your tasks, to add new ones and to delete tasks that are no longer relevant. By doing so, you will reduce stress and feel better.
