Invitation to one-day-seminar on historical TV drama and the uses of history

"Negotiating the Past: Contextualising Historical Television Drama". All interested are welcome!

30.05.2017 kl. 09.00 - 14.00

History has always been mediated. We remember the past through mediated communication. For a long time, television has been perceived as the most important medium in historical dissemination. As a result, we usually see historical content on television, especially fictional content, heavily debated and often criticized. Historical television drama has in different ways negotiated interpretations of the past. This seminar presents a range of perspectives on historical drama and debates ways of contextualising contemporary historical television drama.
