Katherine Kim, PhD, MPH, MBA

Katherine Kim is an ass.professor at University of California Davis in the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing. Dr. Kim also serves as the Director of Health Innovation Research at the UC Davis Health-Center for Health & Technology and as Senior Scientist at CITRIS Health (Center for Health Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society), a California state innovation center. Dr. Kim’s research focuses on technology enabled care models. She specializes in participatory design and engagement methods and the use of information technology such as mobile, social, and distributed computing systems to improve health. She has currently leads research projects related to care coordination, self-management, and comparative effectiveness in cancer, heart failure, multiple chronic conditions, and Kawasaki disease. Currently, Dr. Kim is on the leadership team of pSCANNER: Patient-centered SCAlable National Network for Effectiveness Research, a stakeholder-governed, clinical data research network covering 34M patients. She is also the participant engagement leader for the California consortium to the national All of Us: Precision Medicine Initiative Research Program. Dr. Kim has served on advisory boards, task forces, and been an invited thought leader for Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, iDASH--NIH National Center for Biomedical Computing, the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute’s PCORnet Patient and Consumer Engagement, President’s Cancer Panel, and IOM Health Literacy Roundtable. Dr. Kim has over 20 years of previous experience as a hospital, clinic, and medical group manager, an entrepreneur - CEO of a venture-funded startup, leader of a technology incubator, and founder of a consulting firm - and in software product development with Oracle. She received a PhD at UC Davis, MPH/MBA at UC Berkeley, and BA at Harvard.
