Brian Vad Mathiesen, Professor in Energy Planning at AAU, was quoted in the Danish media 2,183 times last year. He thus occupies first place on Akademikerbladet's annual list of the country's 50 most cited researchers in 2022. The year before he was number 42, but the war in Ukraine and rising energy prices have increased the media's interest in his research area.

- When there's event like the war in Ukraine that completely changes the agenda, you put aside everything else. As a researcher, it’s even more important to make use of your knowledge when the world is plagued by uncertainty and security, Brian Vad Mathiesen tells Akademikerbladet and adds:

The list includes five other AAU researchers, all of whom have previously appeared on lists of most cited researchers – both by the media and by peers in scientific journals. 

The six AAU researchers on the list are:
