I was introduced to wastewater treatment during a MSc course and found it really fascinating and in general overlooked. I quickly developed a strong interest in the microorganisms that live in these wastewater treatment plants and clean our water - our microscopic co-workers.
Generally, I am passionate about understanding these microorganisms better, why they are so good at during the dirty job of cleaning our wastewater, and why they at all are in the wastewater treatment plants.
Hopefully, the expanding knowledge on microorganisms in wastewater treatment systems and factors affecting them can aid a more stable treatment process as well as help make wastewater treatment more sustainable and improve resource recovery. All in all, we all depend on clean water, and wastewater treatment systems are an essential part of making that possible.
Take your time to do some fun and do some science you care about.
I am a social person always up for celebrations, all kinds of them. I like to spend time in the nature, especially accompanied with binoculars and some cool birds. If the day ends with good company, food, wine, and drinks, I cannot ask for more.
