Welcome
The conference will discuss the promotion of circularity and sustainability including how to delimit the concepts and balance environmental, economic and social aspects with a view to actual implementation. Even if there is already a rich literature discussing this there are still many challenges on the area, e.g., ‘Sustainability meeting Circularity’; ‘How to measure sustainability and circularity’; ‘How to pass Green Wall challenges’; ‘How to measure sustainability and circularity in hostile environments and across scope 3 networks’…
The conference will contribute to these discussions and further introduce possible technical solutions addressing the challenges of verifying and controlling circularity and sustainability. This issue is well-known in green production where green-washing blur and make solutions difficult. The issue seems even more complicated in relation to sustainability and circularity where production processes and value chains are complicated and difficult to follow. New solutions introduced for low-cost trust in IoTs (Internet of Things) and the introduction of 6G networks offer potentials to address these problems.
The integration of circular, environmental, business and social aspects into the business model innovation and the development process, by balancing ecological, economic and social requirements has been discussed in the literature [Pieroni, M., McAloone, T., Pigosso, D., 2019m, Bocken, N.M.P., Geradts, T.H.J., 2020 Geissdoerfer, M., Pieroni, M.P.P., Pigosso, D.C.A., Soufani, K., 2020, Lindgren et all 2022]. Eco-design considers environmental aspects at all stages of the business model innovation and development process, striving for business models which make the lowest possible environmental impact throughout the business model life cycle. However, multi-disciplinary tools and methods including AI, Advanced Sensors and 6G to support control and authenticate that these considerations are actually met and delivered from one step to the next are less discussed and it is obvious that the significant volume of data generated poses challenges related to performance and security.
The focus of this multi-disciplinary conference will thus be on circular sustainable business models including technical solutions for authentication, i.e., which are the relevant secure IoT applications in 6G. How can circularity and sustainability be controlled and authenticated through all elements in the innovation and production process?
The conference will welcome papers with both a social science and computer science background.
Issues to be addressed
- Discussion of concepts, methodologies, and tools for holistically defining and assessing circularity and sustainability
- How can circularity and sustainability in relation to 6G applications be qualitatively and quantitatively defined and assessed?
- Which are the roles of regulation and standardization in promoting circularity and sustainability in 6G applications and applications embedded with 6G, advanced sensors and AI
- Models to analyze how society can benefit from circular and sustainable 6G applications
- Models to analyze profitability in 6G applications
- Light-weight methods and tools to authenticate circularity and sustainability in the production results, controlling and preventing e.g., green washing’.
