If you have acquired skills at a similar level and with similar content through previously uncompleted study activities, you must inform Aalborg University of this when you apply for admission to a bachelor’s or master’s programme at Aalborg University.

Bachelor's programmes

You must apply for admission via optagelse.dk.

If you think you are eligible for credit transfer for the entire first year of the study programme, we recommend that you both apply for admission (via optagelse.dk) and apply for transfer (via the application portal).

Please note: If you are enrolled in a programme at a university outside of Denmark you must always apply for admission as it is not possible to get transferred from a university outside of Denmark.

Master's programmes

An application for credit transfer must always consist of a brief explanation and include documentation in the form of a copy of your study journal or transcript and a copy of the curriculum of your previous studies. The application for credit transfer must be included as an enclosure to your application for admission to a study programme, and you must upload it when completing your application for admission to a bachelor’s or master’s programme. 

Once you have accepted the offer of admission, the Admissions Office will forward your credit transfer application to the study board of the programme in question. The study board will then assess your application. You may receive the decision from the study board shortly before the semester starts.

Only the study board can make the credit transfer assessment. Most programmes at Aalborg University does not offer pre-assessments of credit transfer. The study boards only process applications for credit transfer from students who are already admitted. 

If you already are a student at AAU and you plan to study abroad, you may be eligible for credit transfer. It may be a good idea to apply for pre-approval of credit transfer. Successfully completed programme elements that have been pre-approved will replace the course(s) of your AAU study programme for which you were awarded pre-approved credit transfer. This means that a pre-approved stay abroad will not extend your studies at AAU. When you return from your stay abroad, you must forward documentation for having completed the programme elements. Please contact your study board for further information. 

If you are already a student at AAU and you plan to enrol in a minor subject (gymnasiesidefag) or an elective subject at another university in Denmark, please contact the study board of your current programme at AAU for further information.

If you disagree with the study board’s decision regarding your application for credit transfer, you may submit an appeal. You will find detailed information on when and how you may submit an appeal in the letter you have received from your study board informing you of their decision.
