The course is a course from the first trimester of the Master of Cyber Security and Privacy.

In this course, we will work with the following topics:

• Complexities of privacy, and how to operationalise the legal frameworks
• IT systems and digital identity in a privacy context
• Privacy engineering – amongst others: privacy impact assessments and other tools
• Data protection and privacy enhancing technologies (not about Tor but an overall talk about different potential, existing and future applications)
• Easy to say but hard to operationalise – about privacy ethics and the bigger picture.

Outcome of the course

• Knowledge about basic concepts about data protection and privacy
• You will become a professional in cyber security and privacy based on the highest level of international research
• Competences to identify privacy challenges on IT systems
