Process Engineering and Combustion Technology

When you study Sustainable Energy Engineering, you can choose the specialisation in Process Engineering and Combustion Technology (PECT)

<p>When you study the specialisation in Process Engineering and Combustion Technology (PECT), you will work with sustainable energy systems of the future such as PtX, CCUS and energy islands.</p>
<p>You will work with energy systems based on thermal processes or combustion technologies. The programme covers thermal energy systems for heat and power, fluid mechanics and flow systems as well as offshore oil and gas systems.</p>
<p>The programme provides you with knowledge of how to design, analyse and simulate devices for process and combustion systems.</p>
<p>You will explore questions such as:</p>
<ul>
<li>How do you design efficient systems for thermal processes and combustion systems?</li>
<li>How do you optimise process parameters and minimize operational problems in thermal systems?</li>
<li>How do you improve the design of cleaning systems for facilities to meet environmental demands?</li>
</ul>
<p>The programme combines lectures, laboratory work and project work in an innovative and dynamic environment. In each semester (except for the last) you will spend half of your study time on course work while the other half of your time will be spent doing a semester project. Each semester has an overall theme, and within this theme you will complete a semester project with your project group in which you will investigate and attempt to solve a relevant issue in the field of process engineering and combustion technology.</p>
<p>The study programmes at AAU are based on <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.en.aau.dk/about-aau/profile/pbl" target="_blank">problem-based learning</a> and project work, which gives you a unique opportunity to interact with industrial partners and engineering companies. Your semester projects will provide you with an excellent opportunity to build a network with industry, as companies play an active part in the project work, with input for real-life problems which students attempt to solve, often in close cooperation with a company. You apply theory in practice during semester projects, and this will better prepare you for your future career.</p>

<p>This is a full-time study programme with <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.en.aau.dk/about-aau/profile/pbl" target="_blank">problem-based project work</a> in groups. You will be working closely with other students most of the time, and you will be required to be present at the university on a daily basis and for the vast majority of your day.</p>
