Aalborg University just finished a partner study with DIN Forsyning, Ungdomsbo, Kamstrup and Nordiq Group in Esbjerg about a building's capacity to store heat. The partners, among them Matthias Mandø from AAU Energy, has developed a new and improved method that dramatically increases a building's energy efficiency and has the potential to reduce the need for external heating dramatically.

The method, which has been tested in several buildings, has already demonstrated a savings of approximately 2 million DKK in annual heating costs according to the housing company, Ungdomsbo.

Cutting need for heating in the morning
The method works by adjusting heat by taking more into account the storing of excess heat in concrete walls, which is then released when needed, helping to maintain a stable and comfortable indoor temperature. This reduces the need for external heating and decreases energy consumption.

Aalborg University's research into this method highlights an important development in the effort to reduce energy costs and environmental impact. This approach has the potential to revolutionize heat management processes and energy storage in buildings over the long term.
