Jos van Ommeren (1966) is Professor in Urban Economics at the Department of Spatial Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

He worked at the Dutch Central Bank, the Netherlands, the European University Institute, Italy, University College London, United Kingdom, Cranfield University, United Kingdom, Frisch Centre, Norway. Since 2001 he has been employed at the VU Amsterdam. He is a fellow of the Tinbergen Institute.

Jos van Ommeren research interests include urban, housing and transport economics with a focus on the welfare effects of urban policies such as regulating of Airbnb and the supply and regulating of public housing. He is currently involved in studies related to urban renewal and parking policy.
