AAU Platforms are interdisciplinary research frameworks that strengthen the university's strategic initiatives and make knowledge across disciplines easier to develop and share.

AAU Platforms are researcher-driven collaborative forums where experts from different disciplines come together to develop new perspectives on interdisciplinary research fields. Each platform brings together knowledge, methods, and experience, functioning as a shared research space where new ideas can emerge, mature, and be translated into new and socially relevant knowledge, often in dialogue with the broader world.

The purpose is to strengthen Aalborg University’s strategic research areas by creating connections across disciplines and making research more visible and accessible. Among other activities, the platforms organise workshops, research networks, and networking events that bring research environments closer together and support the development of interdisciplinary insights.

AAU’s collaboration platforms

AAU Plastics

AAU Plastics works on solutions that can reduce plastic waste and preserve the value of plastics within a circular system. The platform supports interdisciplinary activities in which knowledge of materials, design, chemistry, and sustainability is brought together to develop new methods and practices for the future use of plastics.

AAU Water

AAU Water addresses the growing challenges related to water resources, pollution, and climate change. The platform creates a framework for interdisciplinary initiatives that strengthen the development of sustainable water management and generate new knowledge on how aquatic environments can be protected and managed in the long term.

AI for the People

AI for the People focuses on how artificial intelligence can be developed and applied in ways that benefit people and society. The platform supports collaboration across disciplines on responsible AI, ethical technology development, and new applications that create real societal value.

AAU Robotics

AAU Robotics works with the possibilities of robotics across industrial, healthcare, and societal applications. The platform supports interdisciplinary research and innovation activities that develop new robotic solutions and contribute to advanced technological development in the field.

AAU Blue

AAU Blue focuses on research within the marine and maritime domain - from coastal protection and ecosystems to offshore energy, maritime law, and technology. The platform supports collaboration and knowledge exchange across disciplines to strengthen understanding of the ocean’s complex challenges and opportunities.
