Spirits were high and the blue AAU jerseys were heavily represented when 1,150 AAU staff members took part in the DHL Relay Race 2023. The race took place in Aalborg on 30 August and in Copenhagen on 28 August.

In teams of five, people could either walk the distance together or run the five kilometres as a relay.

This year, the fastest running team from AAU in Aalborg was from the Department of the Built Environment (BUILD). Christian Overgaard, Sarah Krogh Iversen, Gael Verao Fernandez, Martin Frandsen and Jacob Andersen ran the distance with a time of 1 hour, 50 minutes and 16 seconds. This also made them the fourth fastest team in the race.

AAU had again this year booked a large tent where all the participants gathered after the race for a bite to eat and a beer or water from the bar, served by the Executive Management.

The DHL Relay Race was not held in Esbjerg, but 55 staff members from the Esbjerg campus took part in the West Coast Race on 11 June. See photos and video here.
