What you learn

You learn about thermal and electrical energy engineering, offshore energy systems, underwater drones, mechatronics and control engineering. You also learn how energy is converted, and you learn how to make energy solutions that are more sustainable and efficient. You combine theory with practical project work and laboratory exercises, and you work on real-life challenges from the energy sector.

What you can do

With a Bachelor’s in energy engineering, you can work on the development and optimization of e.g. offshore wind turbines, Power-to-X, HVAC (HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) or underwater drones. You will be able to work at companies like Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, TotalEnergies, European Energy and Ørsted.

About the programme

Programme Structure

The Bachelor's programme in Energy focuses particularly on thermal energy systems and processes or dynamic systems in offshore energy. You start broadly, however, by gaining basic knowledge on thermal and electrical energy technology, mechatronics and control technology. You will understand the various energy engineering processes that underlie the production, distribution and consumption of energy, and you will gain insight into the challenges facing the energy systems of the future. You will also get a broad theoretical foundation and practical tools enabling you to work on these challenges. You learn about, for example, flow machines, offshore energy, new energy production systems, electrical and thermal machines, and circuit theory - and you and your study group will do hands-on lab work and test setups for projects.

Semester overview

You are encouraged to work closely with local energy companies through your projects where you and your project team find solutions to real challenges in the industry.

Mathematics is an important tool for engineers and is used for calculations and models, and you will see that you will use your mathematics skills to a great extent in practice.

From the fifth semester, you choose your specialisation.
