About the programme
Programme Structure
Each semester combines coursework with project work. At the beginning of the semester, you attend courses, while the latter part is dedicated to a project, where you and your project group work in depth with academic and real-world challenges. During the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th semesters, you will also take courses designed to strengthen your English language and communication skills.
Semester descriptions
Study Abroad
The programme has many agreements with universities abroad offering opportunities for study abroad (again, in either the 4th or 5th semesters). Students can also go abroad as free movers to universities outside of AAU’s exchange agreements.
You will still receive a state education grant (SU) during your semester abroad. The programme assists considerations around the academic dimension of the stay, and Aalborg University’s International Office has many years of experience in sending students on study or internships abroad. You may also apply for AAU grants via the office.

Future Prospects
Job and career
Most students use the Bachelor’s programme as a stepping stone to a Master’s degree. Surveys of AAU graduates show that approximately 90 percent continue to a Master’s programme, while 10 percent enter the job market directly after graduation. Many graduates go on to degree programmes such as International Relations or Culture, Communication and Globalization. Others choose Master’s programmes in fields such as sociology, information security, journalism, or international business, with a focus on areas such as human rights or environmental policy.
The programme’s international profile, your language skills, and the academic competences you develop provide excellent opportunities for both further study and employment in Denmark and abroad.
Graduates of Language and International Studies work in ministries, government agencies, private companies, NGOs, EU institutions, media organisations, and consultancy firms. Employers include the United Nations, Danish embassies, the European Commission, Oxfam, Novo Nordisk, Lundbeck, and Save the Children.
