Novel plastic materials

Even a circular plastic economy will require the influx of some new “virgin” material. Plastics produced from bio-materials can provide a more sustainable alternative to the currently dominated fossil-based materials. However, currently used bio-plastics based on sugar cane or corn come with their own environmental problems.
